H Γερμανική εταιρία CureVac βρήκε το εμβόλιο κατά του Covid-19. O Trump το διεκδικεί μόνο για τους Αμερικανούς. Η εταιρία αρνήθηκε πάντως να απαντήσει σε ερωτήσεις του ρεπόρτερ

Tα αποκλειστικά δικαιώματα ενός εμβολίου κατά του κορωνοϊού θέλει να εξασφαλίσει η αμερικανική κυβέρνηση από την γερμανική εταιρία CureVac, σύμφωνα με σημερινό δημοσίευμα της εφημερίδας... Welt am Sonntag και αναδημοσιεύει η Καθημερινή δια χειρός Ξένιας Κουναλάκη.

Ο νέος CEO της εταιρίας Daniel Menichella (ανέλαβε μόλις πριν ένα μήνα αντικαθιστώντας τον Ingmar Hoerr και συναντήθηκε ήδη με τον Tραμπ) ανέβασε στο fb τη συνάντησή του στον Λευκό Οίκο με τον πλανητάρχη και μέλη της Coronavirus Task Force-photo κάτω.

 Το Κουρδιστό Πορτοκάλι αναζήτησε στον ιστότοπο της εταιρίας στοιχεία για τον νέο CEO αλλά υπάρχει ακόμη το όνομα του προκατόχου του. Ο ίδιος σύμφωνα με δημοσιεύματα που διαβάσαμε έδειξε να δυσφορεί για τα σχόλια που ξέσπασαν μετά την συνάντησή του με τον Τραμπ ενώ βρίσκεται ήδη αμερικανογερμανικός πόλεμος γύρω από το εμβόλιο.

Ο Τραμπ το θέλει για τους Αμερικανούς και η Μέρκελ ισχυρίζεται ότι το θέλει για τους Ευρωπαίους. Απίστευτες εξελίξεις την ώρα που μετράμε νεκρούς. Η πραγματικότητα ξεπερνάει το πιο συναρπαστικό σενάριο. Ξεπερνάει ακόμη και τις πιο νοσηρές θεωρίες συνωμοσίας.

Όπως γράφει ο Γερμανός ρεπόρτερ Jan Dams-(photo κάτω), η γερμανική κυβέρνηση προσπαθεί να αποτρέψει μία τέτοια εξέλιξη, που θα μπορούσε να οξύνει τις οικονομικές και εμπορικές τριβές μεταξύ Ουάσιγκτον και Βερολίνου.

Ο πρόεδρος των ΗΠΑ, Ντόναλντ Τραμπ, προσπαθεί με ισχυρά οικονομικά κίνητρα να προσελκύσει τους Γερμανούς επιστήμονες, που εργάζονται στην ανάπτυξη του εμβολίου και να διασφαλίσει την κυκλοφορία του σκευάσματος αποκλειστικά για τη χώρα του. «Ο Τραμπ κάνει τα πάντα για να αποκτήσουν οι ΗΠΑ ένα εμβόλιο. Αλλά όμως μόνο οι ΗΠΑ», αναφέρουν στον Νταμς κυβερνητικοί παράγοντες στη Γερμανία.

Μήλον της έριδος μεταξύ ΗΠΑ και Γερμανίας είναι η CureVac με έδρα το Τίμπινγκεν, η οποία εργάζεται από κοινού με το Ινστιτούτο Παουλ Ερλιχ για Εμβόλια και Βιοϊατρικά μέσα για την ανάπτυξη εμβολίου κατά του ιού. Στελέχη της κυβέρνησης στο Βερολίνο διαπραγματεύονται τώρα με την εταιρία.

«Η ομοσπονδιακή κυβέρνηση ενδιαφέρεται για την ανάπτυξη εμβολίου εναντίον του νέου κορωνοϊού στη Γερμανία και την Ευρώπη», σχολίασε εκπρόσωπος του γερμανικού υπουργείου Υγείας στην κυριακάτικη εφημερίδα και επιβεβαίωσε ότι βρίσκονται σε εξέλιξη προσφορές προς την εταιρία ώστε να παραμείνει στη χώρα. Η εταιρία αρνήθηκε πάντως να απαντήσει σε ερωτήσεις του ρεπόρτερ.

Boehringer Ingelheim

Boehringer Ingelheim and CureVac collaborate to develop next generation lung cancer immunotherapy with CureVac’s CV9202 in different clinical settings. This partnership adds a highly innovative new approach to Boehringer Ingelheim’s lung cancer portfolio.
CRISPR Therapeutics and Casebia Therapeutics

CureVac collaborates with CRISPR Therapeutics, a genome editing company focused on creating transformative gene-based medicines for serious diseases, and Casebia Therapeutics, a joint-venture established by CRISPR Therapeutics and Bayer AG for developing CRISPR-based therapeutics in select disease areas. The common goal of the partnership between CureVac and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is to develop mRNA-based vaccines against various infectious diseases which have an enormous impact on global health.
Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI)

CureVac has teamed up with CEPI to further develop The RNA PrinterTM prototype, a transportable, down-scaled, automated mRNA printing facility that can rapidly provide mRNA-based vaccine candidates for known pathogens. Under the partnership, CureVac will undertake the preclinical (and eventual phase 1 clinical) development of such candidate vaccines—prioritizing Lassa fever, rabies, and yellow fever.

Harvard Medical School

CureVac has partnered with the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Massachusetts Eye and Ear, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, to discover and develop novel mRNA-based candidates for undisclosed eye indications.
